Attitude makes such a difference in fasting. You can choose to feel sorry for yourself and wallow in your hunger. Or, you can choose to see this as a challenge, an opportunity to recognize that you live in a world of abundance and that you can live with significantly less food than you typically eat, and see this as a way to cultivate compassion for others and for our planet. While fasting I try to make it feel like a special occasion. An opportunity for gratitude, celebrating abundance, and doing something that I know is good for me. One of the ways I do this is with sparkling water. Flavored sparkling waters, fun glasses, extra bubbles, anything to make a fasting day feel special. Here are some of my favorite ways to make fasting sparkle.
My absolute favorite, at least for the moment, is extra sparkling in a stemmed wine glass with a little slice of lime.
