Always wanted a cuddly pooch, but your dog cannot be bothered? Don't fret, there is an easy and wonderful way to change that!

Step 1: Get a dog. If you don’t have one, I strongly recommend picking a breed that compliments your lifestyle and personality. If you can find him/her at a shelter, even better!

Step 2: Discover your dog’s version of crack. For Luka, this is smoked poultry. For Talus, this is anything. Literally anything borderline edible. Fill a kong with your dog’s favorite treat or if that is too messy (like in the case of smoke poultry) use a bully stick, kong with peanut butter, or some other delicacy that is bound to get your dogs attention.

Can you tell I'm not a morning person by these photos?

Step 3: Sit in a position that is comfortable to you. I started cross-legged with the little pup in my lap, but if you have a full grown Mastiff, that’s not going to comfortable, so find a position that works well for you and your pup.

Step 4: Call your doggy on to your lap or the spot where you want them to cuddle. If you have trouble coaxing them onto the couch, try waving that dog crack under their nose.

Step 5: Hold tightly to the kong, bully stick or treat as your pooch munches on it. As they eat, pet them gently and tell them how wonderful they are and how much you enjoy snuggling. It is very important not to let go of the treat or they may get in the habit of running away with it.

Step 6: Repeat daily for 2 weeks. At the end of two weeks, your dog should associate snuggling with having a lovely time and will likely want to continue it with our without the bribes.
